This small wooden panda bear was part of a line of animal-themed toys and other products sold by a company from Los Angeles called Zoo-Line in the 1950s; however, these were actually manufactured in Japan and imported from there by Zoo-Line.
These toy animals were mostly sold at amusement parks, zoos, etc. Zoo-Line offered a variety of items in this line such as miniature animals enclosed in match boxes, or bigger ones of utility such as animal-shaped cases or pencil holders and so on. The toys were much in demand due to their funny yet wonderful designs.
This bear has seen its share of wear and tear, with one of its ears missing, but it would still make a great addition to a vintage toy collection. There are no maker’s marks on it. The dimensions of the bear are: Height 4 3/4” (from bottom to ear) and Width 3”.
