Toledo Scale

I noticed that there are 4 lightbulb sockets at the top glass "Toledo No Springs - Honest Weight". I put in a few bulbs but didn't have a cord. I tried hooking up 2 leads of a power cord and wrapped one side around the power prong and touched the other wire to the other prong ... no luck. Later I bought a 1/2" apart appliance plug and it almost worked, but I couldn't quite get it to fit ... it was too tight. So I took the plug apart and enlarged the holes for the male prongs. After fiddling around for a bit, I managed to plug the scale in ... nothing. I put weight on the scale ... nothing, then I noticing that a little metal tab inside the mechanism wasn't quite touching, so I bent it and the lights popped on, but only with a little weight on the scale ... how awesome is that?
